Gohatto
(Taboo)
Release year: 1999
Country:  Japan

A young, extraordinarily handsome new recruit brings destruction to his group of samurai in 1860s Osaka.  His beauty inflames the desire and defeats the will of every member of his militia.  Though its title is Taboo, one of the many strange, surprising things about the movie is how freely its characters speak of homosexuality.  Director Oshima has created a highly stylized world of smoke and shadows, bathed in a perpetual golden glow, and like a mist it wraps itself around us and seals us in.

Gorgeous

International superstar Jackie Chan strikes again with an effervescent, screwball comedy that combines a sweet romantic plot with his trademark action sequences and wit.  When hopeless romantic Ah Bu finds a glass bottle with a love letter stuffed inside it, she decides to leave her provincial fishing village in Taiwan for Hong Kong in search of its author. However, when she catches up with her would-be Prince Charming, he admits that he's Gay and not exactly searching for a princess.  Dismayed, Ah feels she'll never find love, but quickly changes her mind when she meets the millionaire playboy C.N. Chan. With her faith in romance restored, Ah unfurls an outrageous plan to win his undivided affection.
