Mango Soufflé
Release year: 2002
Country: India
A groundbreaking
film from India, set in Bangalore, at the home of Kamlesh,
a successful fashion designer. He has invited a group of friends
for brunch and it seems as if the stage is set for an Indian
version of The Boys in the Band when Kamlesh's bitchy ex-lover
Sharad, his female friend Deepali, closeted actor Bunny and
lover Ranjith, a sarcastic upper class Anglo-Indian, all gather.
Kamlesh is moody because he has just split up with his most
recent ex and wants everyone to swear they will never make

This is a bold and powerful drama which explores the implications

Mishima - A Life in Four Chapters
Release year: 1985
Country: USA
MISHIMA: A LIFE IN FOUR CHAPTERS
is director Paul Schrader's stunning film biography of one of
Japan's most celebrated post-World War II writers--Yukio Mishima.
A fictionalized account in four segments, three of the segments
parallel events in Mishima's life with his novels (THE TEMPLE
OF THE GOLDEN PAVILLION, KYOKO'S HOUSE, and RUNAWAY HORSES),
while the fourth depicts November 25, 1970, the last day of
his life, a day in which he committed two puzzling, stunning
acts--one political, one deeply personal. MISHIMA is an amazing,
disturbing multidimensional character study whose stunning visual
splendor is supported by a riveting score by Philip Glass. It
is a daring film that explores an obsessed artist--and tries
to understand him--through his own writing.

My Loving Trouble 7
Release year: 1991
Country: USA
Jim See-bong is
a depressed, burnt-out director of television commercials.
Part of that probably has to do with pretending to by gay
in order to work in that largely homosexual industry. One
day, while shooting a commercial on the streets of HK, he
accidentally captures Julia on film. Looking over the film,
he realizes that she would be perfect for a perfume commercial.
After looking at her a bit more, he realizes that he is in
love. Eventually, he gets up the courage to confess his love
for her. Julia responds by knocking him out. Of course, this
only makes him love her more. In fact, he is obsessed. He
rents an apartment across the street from her and sets up
electronic surveillance and even bugs her apartment. There
is a problem with all this-Hsu Chi is a spy, and is on a mission.
Julia is a commercial spy who contracts her services out to
companies who want a competitive advantage. Her current mission
is to steal some computer data from a high-security installation.
The film plays out along these lines with Julia and her female
partner, Candy carrying out their mission, while Jim spies
on them.
