ABOUT US

THE FIRST LONG YANG

Long Yang was a handsome young man who was the King’s companion in ancient China. His name has come to be a symbol of emotional and sexual relationships between men

LONG YANG CLUB WORLDWIDE
Long Yang Club International has branches in at least eleven countries and five continents.

It was founded in London in 1983, to provide activities in which gay men from different cultures - Asian, European, and others too - can meet each other, learn to understand each other’s cultures, and make friends.

Its acting President is Chris Hamblin, the founder (and a life member) of Auckland branch.

WHAT THE CLUB IS FOR

Our aim is to provide a place in which people can meet people and make friends. Friendship can develop into something more, and sometimes in the club people may find that special friend who becomes the most important person in their lives!

MEETING PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT CULTURES
Meeting people of different races who come from different backgrounds and religions is not always easy. We need to make sure that we are making other people feel comfortable about being with us. It is often wise not to stand very close to someone, or look him straight in the eye, or touch him, until we know him well.

On the other hand, we should try not to feel offended if someone does or says something we are not comfortable with. He may just be trying to be friendly!. Instead, we could try to explain what we feel, so he understands what he should do next time.

OUR AIM
We try to make sure that, in our activities:
• Gay and bi men of all ages and races feel accepted
• Gay and bi men who have partners of other races can take part.
• Different cultures are accepted and celebrated.
• Everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

WHAT WE DO
See our events for a list of activities that we provide. Our past events page may be of interest too.

WHO CAN COME
We invite gay men of all ages and races to join us as guests. After attending two or three meetings, guests are encouraged to become members of the club. There is a small annual membership fee. This is used to meet the costs of providing club activities. Members can also contact Long Yang Clubs in other countries and attend their activities
