JULY 2004 |
Well, its the details you have all been waiting for. Later in this edition of Whispering Bamboo I will provide all the details for our very popular annual Christmas in July dinner function.
Secretary / Editor
Our last function was a Pot Luck dinner at Glen's place on 26 June. Glen set the tone for the dinner with an excellent home made soup - just the idea to keep out the Canberra cold. Soup was followed by the usual selection of gourmet offerings from Members for a Pot Luck dinner, which everyone enjoyed.
Dinner was followed by games of Charades, gay Trivial Pursuit and a gay themed "Who am I" spot prize. Most Members learnt something new from the Trivial Pursuit game - how many knew that the largest dick in the world is 11 feet long and is attached to the Blue Whale ? Congratulations to the winning team and many thanks to Glen for hosting another great LICK night.
Well, its that time again for our annual Christmas in July. Details are as follows;
Saturday 24 July 2024 commencing at 7.00 PM
The Curve on the Square Restaurant
Hodgson Cl. Pierce Shops (Pearce is near Woden)
Cost $30 per person - advance confirmed bookings are essential. See below for details
The menu is three courses with a multiple choice for each course, followed by tea and coffee. Note, I have seen the menu - it's GREAT ! Please bring your own wines and drinks.
To book, please confirm your attendance with Treasurer Stephen or myself (by return e-mail) before 17 July. No advance booking - no dinner on the night.
Sorry to advise Members, at our last Christmas in July, some Members booked but did not attend. The result was LICK was charged for those dinners that were ordered. For this year, if Members advise that they are coming to Christmas in July, and do not attend on the night, they will still be charged for the dinner.
Visit by Santa. Please bring along a small humorous wrapped gift to the value of between $5 and $10 for Santa to re-distribute on the night.
We are still looking for a Member to be a volunteer host for our August function. Its fun and easy, just ask Glen from our June function. All that is necessary is to be willing to open your home for an evening and your Committee will arrange the rest. Please contact any of the Committee for details.
House Boat weekend on the Clyde River. In the last newsletter I asked for an indication of Members who might be interested in this weekend - we need indicative numbers early so we can get in an advance booking for the House Boat. So far we have six starters and each house boat takes eight. That means we will reserve one house boat. If you are interested, please confirm with any of the Committee as early as possible so we have an idea how many boats to book. More details will be available later to those Members who are attending.
Also in September
Depending on the weekend for the House Boat, your Committee is also considering an additional function in September for those members who cannot go on the House Boat trip. More details closer to the time.
A very big warm welcome to the new Members who have recently joined Long Yang. You are now part of a world wide group of clubs affiliated to Long Yang International in six continents. For those current Members who have forgotten to renew their memberships, please contact Treasurer Stephen.
For those members considering travelling to Bangkok later this year, the following is a Press release from Long Yang International about the international Icon Conference to be held there in November 2004.
I have further information and travel advice, discounts accommodation etc for any Members who might be interested in attending the conference. Please send me an e-mail for further details.
